How to Get Around San Diego Comic-Con (2026 Transportation Guide)

_San Diego Comic-Con 2026 runs July 23–26 at the San Diego Convention Center._
The easiest way to get around San Diego Comic-Con is on foot or by pedicab. Downtown San Diego is compact and walkable, many streets close to cars during the convention, and pedicabs reach the pedestrian-only zones that rideshares and taxis can't. For longer hops — between hotels, parking, and the Gaslamp Quarter — a pedicab or the MTS Trolley beats sitting in Comic-Con gridlock.
During Comic-Con week, 130,000+ badge holders plus hundreds of thousands more fill downtown. Streets close, rideshare surge pricing spikes, and a four-block trip by car can take 20 minutes. Here's how to move efficiently.
Pedicabs — the fastest way around the convention zone
Pedicabs (also called bike taxis) are the most flexible option inside the Comic-Con footprint. They:
VIP Pedicab runs San Diego's largest electric pedicab fleet and has operated downtown since 2003. Book a pedicab ride or tour, or flag one down in the Gaslamp Quarter.

The Convention Center, Gaslamp Quarter, Petco Park, the Embarcadero, and the headquarter hotels (Marriott Marquis, Hilton Bayfront, Manchester Grand Hyatt) are all within a 5–15 minute walk. For short trips during Comic-Con, walking is often faster than any vehicle.
MTS Trolley
The San Diego MTS Trolley stops right by the convention center at the Gaslamp Quarter and Convention Center stations. It's the best option for longer distances — Old Town, Mission Valley, or park-and-ride lots outside downtown. Use the PRONTO card or app to pay.
Rideshare and taxis
Uber and Lyft work but are slowed by street closures and surge pricing during peak hours, and pickup/drop-off zones are set back from the Convention Center. Use them for trips outside the closed core, and expect a walk to the pickup point.
Parking
Downtown parking is scarce and pricey during Comic-Con. Reserve a spot in advance through a parking app, or park at a Trolley park-and-ride and ride in. Many attendees skip driving entirely.
Getting from the Convention Center to the Gaslamp Quarter
It's a short trip — about a 5–10 minute walk across Harbor Drive, or a quick pedicab ride if you're carrying gear or short on time. The Gaslamp Quarter is where most of Comic-Con's nightlife, restaurants, and off-site activations happen.
The bottom line
Walk for short trips, take a pedicab for quick hops through the closed-off core and to beat the gridlock, and use the Trolley for longer distances. Skip driving if you can.
